Mobile browsers have provided a mobile way to surf the internet. With the introduction of cryptocurrencies, developers are seeking to include crypto functionalities into mobile browsers. The functionalities range from cryptocurrency wallets to running decentralized applications (Dapps). These are all vital for the path of crypto adoption.

The browsers are slowly shedding off their traditional functionalities and upgrading to help cater to the needs of virtual currency users. They have also reduced the friction for those looking to invest in cryptocurrencies for the first time.

Small But Steady Strides In Crypto Adoption

While only small strides have been made into infusing crypto functionalities with mobile browsers, the steps being made by developers are steady. For example, hardware and software developers are keen on ensuring that the modern day mobile phones are capable of handling the Web 3.0.

Mobile phones are also being manufactured with capabilities to handle complex games. An esport platform with its own digital token, Dream Team, is focusing on the approximately 800 million U.S dollars gaming market. The token can be used to pay for competition and sponsorship prizes.

Dream Team has in the past faced relative difficulty in reaching their target gamers. But, with the upgrade on mobile browsers, the platform can comfortably take advantage of the browser-based cryptocurrency wallets to help young gamers to award or to be awarded tokens for interacting with esport events. Brave and Opera are among mobile browsers with in-built crypto functionalities.

Opera led the charge eliminating the need for a desktop computer to access in-browser functionalities. At the time, Metamask was used to interact with Ethereum-based tokens. Opera now provides a way to connect a mobile crypto wallet with a desktop browser.

HTC and Samsung are major companies that have concentrated on mobile phone hardware that can handle cryptocurrencies. They have also had a working relationship with companies like Opera. HTC, for example, has released a mobile phone, Exodus, with a hardware wallet that connects with the Opera mobile browser.

Exodus has also added support for Zion wallet which in turn supports XLM, LTC, ETH, and BTC. Additionally, Zion and Simplex facilitate crypto purchases using credit cards. Brave is also in the forefront enabling content publishers to be rewarded using its native token. With crypto-enabled mobile browsers, more people will find it easier to board the crypto train hence driving adoption.
