According to a recent report released by Insider Sport, AS Roma is expanding its presence in the blockchain market. The main goal is to allow fans to buy, sell and trade digital cards with the value of the players according to their performances in real-time. This is why the football team has closed a partnership with the digital trading card application Sorare.

AS Roma Enters The Blockchain Market

The blockchain market is now going to be reaching a larger number of users due to the recent partnership between Sorare and AS Roma. According to Nicolas Julia, Sorare’s co-founder and CEO of the company, they ware trying to work with the best football clubs from all over the world.

On the matter, he commented:

“We are very proud to have signed this agreement with such an Italian heavyweight, and we thank them for their trust in Sorare. We see this as a new, key step in our vision to work with the best football clubs from around the world.”

Sorare received funds to grow its platform from ConsenSys. In this way, they can offer services the possibility to buy and sell blockchain-based cards and handle virtual currencies. So as to attract a larger number of users, the firm offers on auction special cards, including the “player of the week.”

At the same time, users can win weekly prizes by entering tournaments and playing a wide range of games. All the players will be issued a unique card and 10 super rare cards. Moreover, there will be 100 rare cards and unlimited free common cards. These prizes will be given to the players that line-up the best five cards each week.

This new partnership will also be useful for AS Roma and the brand they represent. This is something that several football teams are thinking of: having more representation in different economic sectors.

The cards for AS Roma will soon be available to users in the market. Back in 2019, Ubisoft accepted Sorare into their Entrepreneur Lab accelerator programme. This has also provided the necessary funding for the platform to move forward with its initiative in the market.

In addition to it, there are some football teams that are already accepting cryptocurrencies for the tickets they sell. SL Benfica became the first major European football club to do so after partnering with the UTRUST payment platform.
