More and more companies are heading towards offering cryptocurrencies as a way of payment. Even Microsoft couldn’t stay away from it. After accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment a long time ago, the company halted the operation due to instability on December 26, 2017. But on January 10 2018 a Microsoft spokeswoman declared that bitcoin was restored as a form of payment.
But the latest company that announced that they will accept cryptocurrency payments is the adult content network – Playboy TV. They stated that, by the end of the year, a dedicated cryptocurrency wallet will be created. At first, they will accept a cryptocurrency called Vice Industry Token – which is currently at the ICO stage with one week remaining.
Playboy TV & Vice Industry Token
The Vice Industry Token gained more than $16 million dollars trough their ICO until now. Their token (VIT) was created in order to allow users to purchase adult content using cryptocurrecies – but it also has a major benefit. By using the VIT token , it is possible to track the real user engagement on different adult content websites.
In their latest release about this topic, Playboy TV declared that users could view, vote or comment on their channel using VITs. From our perspective, the cryptocurrency adoption by Playboy TV would be an example that it can be done. Therefore, in the future more and more major television companies could join.
Reena Patel, Chief Operations Officer, Licensing and Media for Playboy Enterprises, declared:
“As the popularity of alternative payment methods continues to grow around the world, along with the reach Playboy’s digital platforms, we felt it was important to give our 100 million monthly consumers increased payment flexibility.”
If the results are good, Playboy hinted that they may use the cryptocurrency wallet within its other services such as gaming, augmented reality and VR.
