Tech giant Microsoft is apparently working on a new feature that would allow users to transfer and receive crypto assets via its default web browser.

Software documenter Albacore revealed screenshots of a new Ethereum (ETH) wallet that Microsoft plans to incorporate into its Edge browser, as first reported by BleepingComputer. The onboarding pages reveal that Microsoft is launching a non-custodial crypto wallet that offers customers exclusive control over their funds and private keys.

The described crypto wallet is non-custodial, providing the user with complete control over their funds, and preventing access to their password and recovery key. Its integration within Edge also eliminates the need for installing additional extensions, simplifying the user experience.

According to the displayed screenshots, users have the option to purchase crypto assets through US-based digital asset exchange Coinbase and web3 infrastructure firm MoonPay.

The screen grabs also imply functionality for exploring NFT marketplaces, a news feed feature, and the opportunity for users to choose between the Edge wallet and an extension wallet for managing their assets.

In response to inquiries, a spokesperson from Microsoft provided a statement to BleepingComputer. The statement indicated that the company frequently tests new features to enhance customer experiences and welcomes feedback from users. However, at present, there is no additional information to share regarding this particular feature.
