Crypto Meeting: Who’s Attending Trump’s Aug. 19 Summit

President Donald Trump is expected to attend a White House crypto meeting on Wednesday, August 19, where chief executives from Coinbase, Ripple, Gemini, Robinhood, Polymarket and Kalshi will gather at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, according to reporting from Eleanor Terrett

Terrett’s report adds that SEC Chairman Paul Atkins is also expected to attend the session, alongside CFTC Chairman Michael Selig. The gathering lands one day before the Commodity Futures Trading Commission holds the first meeting of its new Innovation Advisory Committee.

The Officials and Executives Confirmed So Far

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick are also expected to attend, according to a separate CoinDesk report citing sources familiar with the planning. That follows Bloomberg’s August 14 report, which first placed Trump, Atkins and Selig at the gathering.

On the industry side, the CEOs of Coinbase, Ripple, Gemini, Robinhood, Polymarket and Kalshi all sit on the CFTC’s newly formed Innovation Advisory Committee, which explains the overlap between Wednesday’s guest list and Thursday’s committee roster. Neither the White House nor the CFTC had published a final, formal attendee list as of these reports, so some names could still shift before the meeting.

Why the CLARITY Act Timeline Matters for Your Holdings

If you hold Bitcoin, Ethereum, or shares in a crypto-linked ETF, this meeting sits upstream of the CLARITY Act, the bill that would give both assets formal commodity status under CFTC oversight.

The Senate’s cloture vote on that bill is now scheduled for September 15, and the breakdown of the CLARITY Act walks through what it changes for Bitcoin and Ethereum once that vote clears. A well-attended White House session does not guarantee Senate votes on its own, but it does show where the administration wants the remaining fights over the bill settled before lawmakers return from recess.

The CFTC’s Aug. 20 Committee Debut

The CFTC itself has confirmed the follow-up date. In a press release posted to CFTC.gov on August 13, Chairman Michael Selig released the agenda for the Innovation Advisory Committee’s first meeting, set for Thursday, August 20, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time, covering crypto assets, artificial intelligence and prediction markets.

The roughly 35-member committee draws from crypto exchanges, prediction markets, venture firms and traditional finance, and several Wednesday guests, including Andreessen Horowitz, Chainlink Labs and Paradigm, also sit on that committee.

Watch whether Thursday’s session produces any concrete timeline for the “mature blockchain” test that determines when a token exits SEC oversight, since that detail carries more weight for the CLARITY Act’s odds than the Wednesday guest list does on its own.

What this means for you: These two days are the government publicly working out crypto’s rulebook, not a trading signal, so treat any short-term price swings around the meetings as noise until an actual vote happens.
