Corrections Policy
We aim to get things right. Where we don’t, we fix it visibly.
Reporting an error
Email editor@usethebitcoin.com with the subject line Correction Request.
Include the article URL, the specific claim you believe is wrong, and any source that supports the correction. We review every request we receive.
We aim to acknowledge correction requests within two business days, and to publish a correction within five business days where one is warranted. Where a request needs more time, for example because we are waiting on a source or a regulator, we will say so rather than leave it unanswered.
corrections
A correction is issued when we publish something factually wrong.
The article carries a note stating what was incorrect, what the accurate information is, and the date the fix was made. The article’s modified date is updated to reflect the correction.
Where the central claim of an article was wrong, the note is placed at the top of the article rather than the foot, so it is seen by anyone who reads the piece.
Updates
An update is applied when a developing story changes, new information becomes available, or figures move. Updates are not corrections and are not flagged as errors.
The article’s modified date reflects the most recent substantive change.
Removals
Where an article’s central claim cannot be supported, or where content about an identifiable person is inaccurate, we remove the article rather than leave the claim in place.
Where a removal follows a correction request, we tell the person who raised it what action was taken.
What we do not flag
Typographical fixes, formatting changes, broken link repairs and edits that do not alter meaning are made without a note.
