Swissquote Group Holding cut its full-year 2026 profit guidance on August 13, 2026, after net crypto assets income fell 66.2% to CHF 14.6 million in the first half of the year.
The Swiss online bank now targets pre-tax profit near CHF 365 million for 2026, down from an original goal close to CHF 420 million, even as net revenue guidance held near CHF 730 million. The gap shows how a crypto downturn can dent a diversified broker’s earnings even when its other business lines keep growing.
The CHF 28.5 Million Swing Behind the Guidance Cut
Net crypto assets income dropped from CHF 43.1 million in the first half of 2025 to CHF 14.6 million in the same period this year, according to Swissquote’s H1-2026 results presentation. That CHF 28.5 million drop equaled 65.8% compared with the second half of 2025 alone, and crypto assets ended H1-2026 as just 4% of net revenue, the smallest share of any product line the bank reports.
The interim consolidated report that Swissquote filed alongside the presentation confirms the knock-on effect on the bottom line. Pre-tax profit slipped 1.2% year over year to CHF 182.9 million, and net profit fell 2.9% to CHF 153.6 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026, even though overall net revenue rose 1.7% to CHF 364.2 million.
Other business lines cushioned the blow. Interest income climbed 7.2% to CHF 115.9 million on higher cash deposits, trading income rose 15.8% to CHF 64.4 million, and net new money reached CHF 5.1 billion in the half, pushing total client assets to CHF 96.3 billion across 1.22 million accounts.
What This Means for Brokerage Clients Holding Crypto
For clients who trade crypto through a regulated brokerage rather than a standalone exchange, the swing is a reminder that a platform’s own profit line can move with digital-asset prices even when a customer’s personal balance stays flat, a dynamic that shows up whenever a public broker publishes a mid-year crypto revenue breakdown like the one covered in our latest crypto news.
The Investor Calendar That Tests the CHF 365 Million Target
Swissquote executives are due to address the revised outlook at the UBS Best of Switzerland Conference on September 22, 2026, and the BofA Annual Financial CEO Conference the following day, according to the company’s own investor calendar. Full-year 2026 results land on March 18, 2027, when analysts will find out whether the CHF 365 million pre-tax profit target held or needed a second cut if crypto prices stay soft through the fourth quarter.
What this means for you: if you hold crypto through a brokerage account instead of buying coins directly, keep an eye on how that platform’s own earnings react to price swings, since a profit miss there can shape the fees, products, or support you get even if your own crypto balance never moves.
