Wallet in Telegram has officially rebranded as Walt, marking a shift from its original wallet-focused identity toward a broader crypto platform offering trading, Earn products, tokenized assets and other financial services inside Telegram.
The change took effect on September 28. Existing users do not need to create a new account, move their assets or complete verification again. Balances, transaction history and wallet addresses remain unchanged. Walt is now accessible through the @walt Telegram handle, while the previous @wallet address still works.
The rebrand also creates a clearer distinction between Walt and Gram Wallet, a separate self-custodial wallet being introduced for the Telegram ecosystem.
Walt positions itself as the broader crypto platform, while Gram Wallet is designed as a simpler entry point for interacting with Gram and TON-based services.
Wallet in Telegram Is Now Walt
Telegram Wallet began roughly five years ago as a Telegram bot that made it easier for users to buy Toncoin (TON) and Bitcoin (BTC).
The product has since expanded well beyond basic crypto storage and transfers.
Walt now describes itself as a multichain crypto platform where users can buy, sell, exchange and store digital assets while accessing additional products such as:
- Peer-to-peer (P2P) trading
- Perpetual futures
- Earn products
- Tokenized US stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs)
- A non-custodial decentralized finance (DeFi) account
- Loyalty campaigns
The company said in its rebrand announcement that its platform now supports more than 300 assets and is used by millions of people.
Its official help center confirms that the core services available before the rebrand remain accessible under the Walt name.

The rebrand therefore does not represent a migration to a new wallet infrastructure but primarily a new identity for the existing platform.
Walt and Gram Wallet Will Serve Different Roles

Gram Wallet is positioned as a simpler self-custodial wallet for accessing Gram, TON and services within the Telegram ecosystem.

Walt No Longer Appears in Telegram Settings
One practical change for existing users is where Walt appears inside Telegram.
Walt’s official documentation says the app no longer appears directly in Telegram settings after the rebrand. Users can instead open it by searching for @walt. The previous @wallet username still directs users to the same service.
Users can also pin the Walt chat or add the app to their device’s home screen for quicker access.
The purpose of the change is significant as wallet rebrands often create opportunities for phishing accounts that pretend to offer migrations or token swaps.
Walt says users do not need to transfer funds, create new wallet addresses or provide recovery phrases because of the name change.
Gram Is the New Name for Toncoin
The product changes also follow an earlier rebranding within the TON ecosystem.
Toncoin was renamed Gram (GRAM) on June 15, 2026. The underlying blockchain remains The Open Network (TON).
The change did not create a new token or require holders to swap their existing TON. Wallet balances and TON addresses remained unchanged; existing holdings simply appear under the new Gram name and GRAM ticker.
