Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data UseTheBitcoin collects when you use usethebitcoin.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. Last updated: October 20, 2026.
Who we are
UseTheBitcoin is operated by BC3 Digital LLC, 7901 4th St N, STE 300, St. Petersburg, FL 33702, USA. BC3 Digital LLC is responsible for the personal data described in this policy (the “controller” under European data protection law). In this policy, “we” and “us” mean BC3 Digital LLC.
For privacy questions and requests, e-mail editor@usethebitcoin.com or use our contact form.
What this policy covers
This policy covers usethebitcoin.com, our newsletter, our push notifications, our contact form and job applications sent through our careers pages. It does not cover:
- our merchandise shop at shop.usethebitcoin.com, which runs on Shopify and has its own privacy policy;
- websites we link to, including the exchanges, wallets and other services we write about. Once you leave our site, their privacy policies apply.
What we collect
When you read the site
Like most websites, we and the services we use collect some data automatically from your browser:
- your IP address and the approximate location it suggests, such as your country or city;
- your browser, device, operating system and language;
- the pages you visit, how you got to the site and when;
- cookie and device identifiers set by our analytics and advertising tools.
Which tools run depends on where you are and the choices you make. See Cookies, analytics and advertising below.
When you contact us
Our contact form asks for your name, e-mail address, the purpose of your message, your industry and the message itself. The form is provided by LeadConnector (HighLevel), which stores what you send on our behalf, and it checks that you are not a bot. If you e-mail us, we receive your e-mail address and anything you include.
When you subscribe to our newsletter
Our newsletter, The Bitcoin Compass, runs on beehiiv. You sign up on beehiiv’s pages, and beehiiv stores your e-mail address for us. beehiiv may also record whether you open our e-mails and click their links.
When you turn on push notifications
If you allow browser notifications, OneSignal stores a subscription ID for your browser, together with technical details such as your browser and device type. You can turn notifications off in your browser at any time.
When you apply for a job
The application form on our careers pages asks for your name, e-mail address, phone number, a short bio and your CV. Applications are stored on our website and used only to consider you for a role. Google reCAPTCHA checks the form for spam.
When you click a partner link
Some links on the site are affiliate links. When you click one, we record the click, and the partner may set its own cookie so it can credit us if you sign up. Partners report sign-ups and commissions to us.
We don’t offer reader accounts, comments are switched off, and we don’t ask for sensitive information such as health data, religious beliefs or ID numbers. Please don’t send it to us.
How we use your data
We use personal data only for the purposes below. If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK or Switzerland, the law requires a legal basis for each use, shown after each item.
- Running, securing and fixing the site, including server and security logs and spam checks. Basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and safe.
- Counting visits and seeing which pages are read (Google Analytics 4, Clicky), so we can improve the site. Basis: your consent.
- Showing display ads and measuring our own social media ads (Sevio, the Meta Pixel and the X pixel). Basis: your consent.
- Replying to your messages, including advertising and partnership enquiries. Basis: our legitimate interest in answering you, or steps you ask us to take before a contract.
- Sending the newsletter and push notifications you signed up for. Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
- Reviewing job applications. Basis: steps you ask us to take before a possible contract, and our legitimate interest in hiring.
- Keeping a record of your cookie choice and meeting other legal obligations, such as answering lawful requests from authorities. Basis: legal obligation.
We don’t make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based only on automated processing.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our Cookie Policy lists the cookies and tools we use. In short:
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, a banner asks for your consent first. Analytics and advertising tools load only if you accept them, and you can change your choice at any time.
- Elsewhere, there is no banner. Analytics tools load when you visit, and advertising tools load after a few seconds.
Sevio and the advertising partners it works with may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure results and, where the law allows, choose ads based on your interests. The Meta Pixel and the X pixel tell Meta and X that you visited our site, so we can measure and target our own ads on those networks.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal data and of targeted advertising: Sevio display ads, the Meta Pixel and the X pixel do not load, and Google’s advertising features are switched off.
Browsers also have an older “Do Not Track” setting. There is no agreed standard for it, so the site does not respond to it.
Opting out of interest-based ads
You can also limit interest-based ads in Google’s My Ad Center, in your Meta ad preferences, and through the industry opt-out pages of the Digital Advertising Alliance, the Network Advertising Initiative and, in Europe, Your Online Choices. To stop Google Analytics in your browser, use Google’s opt-out add-on.
Who we share data with
We share personal data with the services that help us run the site, and only for the purposes above:
- WPX: website hosting and content delivery.
- Google: Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, reCAPTCHA and YouTube video embeds.
- Clicky: visit statistics.
- Meta: the Meta Pixel.
- X: the X pixel.
- Sevio and its advertising partners: display ads.
- OneSignal: push notifications.
- beehiiv: our newsletter.
- LeadConnector (HighLevel): our contact form.
- CookieYes: our consent banner and consent records.
Some of these companies, such as Google, Meta, X and our advertising partners, also use the data for their own purposes under their own privacy policies.
We may also disclose personal data to our professional advisers, when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, and to a buyer if the site or the company is sold.
We don’t sell personal data for money. But letting advertising partners and the Meta and X pixels collect data on our site can count as “selling” or “sharing” under some US state laws. See US state privacy rights below.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it for:
- Analytics data: up to 14 months.
- Server and security logs: up to 30 days.
- Contact form messages and e-mails: up to 2 years after our last exchange.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. beehiiv may keep your address on a do-not-send list so it isn’t added again by mistake.
- Push notifications: until you unsubscribe or the subscription expires.
- Job applications: 12 months after the role is filled, unless you agree that we keep them longer.
- Cookie consent records: 12 months.
Advertising partners, Meta and X keep the data they collect under their own policies.
International transfers
BC3 Digital LLC is based in the United States, and most of the services we use process data in the US. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, your data is transferred to the US. For these transfers we rely on recognised safeguards, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (with its UK and Swiss counterparts) or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Our team works remotely from several countries, so team members may also access data from outside the US.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what personal data we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter and notifications, and change your cookie choice, at any time.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland
You have the right to:
- access your personal data and get a copy;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- restrict how we use it;
- receive the data you gave us in a portable format;
- object to uses based on our legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time;
- withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect what we did before you withdrew it.
You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work, though we would appreciate the chance to deal with your concern first.
US state privacy rights
Residents of California and several other US states have rights under state privacy laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Depending on where you live, you can:
- know what personal data we collect, use and disclose, and get a copy;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete your data;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal data and of targeted advertising, by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser (see Global Privacy Control above);
- use an authorized agent to make a request for you;
- appeal if we turn down your request.
We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
In the last 12 months we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (such as name, e-mail address, phone number, IP address and cookie IDs); internet activity (pages visited and how you use the site); approximate location based on your IP address; and professional information you send in a job application. Our advertising partners may also infer your interests from this data. We collect it from you, from your browser and from the services listed above, for the purposes in How we use your data, and we disclose it to the services in Who we share data with. We don’t ask for sensitive personal information as the CCPA defines it.
How to make a request
E-mail editor@usethebitcoin.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line, or use our contact form. Tell us what you would like us to do and where you live. Before we act, we may need to confirm your identity, usually by replying to the e-mail address the request is about.
We reply within one month if you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, and within 45 days if you are in the US. Where the law allows, we may extend this period, and we will tell you why.
If we turn down your request, reply with “Appeal” in the subject line and we will review the decision within 45 days. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general.
Children
UseTheBitcoin is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you think a child has sent us personal data, e-mail us and we will delete it.
Security
The site uses HTTPS, only the people who need it can access our systems, and we choose service providers that protect data. No website can be completely secure, so please don’t send us anything you would not want exposed. We will never ask for your wallet seed phrase, private keys or exchange passwords.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change significantly affects how we use your data, we will also say so at the top of this page for 30 days.
