As we unveiled some time ago, Monero (XMR) is now supported by one of the most important cryptocurrency wallets on the market, Ledger. The team behind the largely-known hardware wallet confirmed this news early this year. Monero joins several other large market cap coins with the support of Ledger.
Monero Support on Ledger Hardware Wallet
The step is an important one for Monero, one of the leading privacy coins on the market, as it earns support outside of its ecosytem and on known wallets like Ledger
During the interview, Mr Spagni commented:
“We are on Ledger already if you have got the developer kit. I saw some commits happening today to fix a couple of small issues. I’d hope that probably alongside the Monero 0.12.1 release, there will be official Ledger support.”
Early in 2018, Monero experienced a hard fork that was planned in order to protect Monero’s network from some kinds of ASIC mining.
On its official Twitter account, Riccardo Spagni uploaded a picture on March the 30th in which he shows that he is testing Monero on a Ledger Nano S. Spagni explained that it works fine with a public remote node, that seems to be very lightweight. He has also expressed that he expects a deeper integration into light wallets in the short term.
The first ledger to ledger mainnet Monero transaction was completed earlier this year. According to the Reddit user KnifeOfPi2, another user known as Selsta sent him 0.1 XMR. Once the transaction was received, KnifeOfPi2 sent 0.4 Monero back to Selsta.
