OKX Wallet turned on automatic bridge routing on July 25, 2026, scanning more than 30 cross-chain bridges to identify the path with the best combination of speed and cost for moving assets between blockchains.
Before the update, users had to pick a bridge themselves before sending funds from one network to another, weighing fees and wait times on their own. OKX Wallet announced the change directly, framing it as a way to cut out one of the more confusing steps in managing crypto across multiple chains.
How the New Bridge Routing Works
The feature runs inside OKX Wallet’s existing bridge tool and kicks in automatically whenever a user starts a cross-chain transfer. According to OKX Wallet’s July 25 announcement, the wallet compares routes across its more than 30 supported bridges and surfaces the option that balances speed and cost, instead of asking the user to choose a bridge first.
OKX’s official bridge page describes the same aggregation approach, saying the tool searches major bridge providers behind the scenes to speed up transfers and cut costs. That page lists Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Polygon among the networks most users route between, alongside dozens of other supported chains.
CryptoSlate’s March 2026 review of OKX Wallet had already flagged the built-in DEX and bridging tools as a way to avoid leaving the wallet for swaps and cross-chain routing, and this update extends that logic to bridge selection itself.
Why the Update Matters for Cross-Chain Users
For anyone who regularly moves crypto between networks, the practical effect is fewer decisions before a transfer goes through, since the wallet now handles bridge selection on its own. The change fits a broader pattern in recent crypto news, as wallets increasingly compete on how much friction they can remove from cross-chain transfers rather than on how many chains they support.
What OKX Has Said About Expanding Bridge Coverage
OKX has not given a timeline for adding bridges beyond the current 30-plus networks. The company’s official Learn page, last updated December 4, 2025, states that OKX Bridge will keep adding blockchains and assets as those networks mature, though it does not name specific chains or a date for the next expansion.
What This Means for You
If you already use OKX Wallet to move assets between chains, routing now happens without picking a bridge first, which can save time on transfers you make often. If you are trying a cross-chain transfer for the first time, still confirm the destination network and token before approving anything, since a wrong selection can send funds to the wrong chain. The routing engine chooses the path for you, but it does not remove the need to check that path before confirming.
