SUI rose 5% to approximately $1.23 on October 5, 2026, according to CoinGecko, as Mysten Labs’ focus on stablecoins, payments and AI-driven activity puts Sui’s growth strategy in focus.

The move comes ahead of a new live throughput demonstration scheduled for October 7, following Sui’s July 4 experiment that processed 6,086,766 transactions per second using an architecture designed around high-frequency activity from AI agents.

The price increase coincides with renewed attention around Sui’s technology and applications, although the available sources do not establish that the AI and stablecoin strategy directly caused the SUI rally. Together, the developments connect Sui’s performance ambitions with stablecoin payments and an emerging agentic economy.

SUI Climbs Ahead of Sui’s Next Throughput Test

According to CoinGecko’s SUI market data, SUI was trading at approximately $1.23, up 5% over 24 hours on October 5. Its market capitalization stood at roughly $5.06 billion, while 24-hour trading volume was approximately $619.9 million in the snapshot.

Mysten Labs Puts Money Movement at the Center

Mysten Labs, the company behind Sui, has positioned the network around moving value between people, institutions and autonomous systems.

In “The Road Ahead for Sui” by Adeniyi Abiodun, Mysten Labs co-founder and chief product officer, describes money movement as a central part of Sui’s development direction. His vision spans payments between people, financial assets moving between institutions and autonomous systems capable of transacting on behalf of users.

Stablecoins matter within that framework because they provide digital, dollar-denominated value that can move through blockchain infrastructure. Abiodun connects them to a broader goal of making digital money easier and cheaper to move while supporting transactions initiated by autonomous software.

This provides the strategic context for Sui’s emphasis on stable digital dollars, payments and AI agents.

Stablecoins and AI Form Two Potential Growth Engines

Sui’s stablecoin strategy is closely connected to its payment ambitions. Stablecoins can provide a digital settlement layer for transfers and financial applications, while Sui’s current positioning emphasizes stable digital dollars alongside instant settlement and autonomous payments.

AI provides another potential source of activity. Human users generally initiate individual blockchain transactions, while autonomous software could interact with multiple services, make payments and execute instructions without manual intervention for every action.

That creates two potential sources of demand: stablecoins can support financial activity, while AI agents could generate machine-driven transactions.

Sui’s July Experiment Reached 6.08 Million TPS

The technical foundation for that strategy was demonstrated on July 4, 2026.

According to Sui’s report on the 6.08 million TPS experiment, the network processed 6,086,766 transactions per second during a livestream experiment involving AI agents, payments, games and chat.

The result exceeded Sui’s original 1 million TPS target by more than six times and was approximately 20 times higher than its previous benchmark of 297,000 TPS.

Table 2. Sui’s reported July throughput experiment.

The architecture behind the test is important. Sui used programmable tunnels, allowing high-frequency interactions to occur through offchain payment and state channels before settling to Sui.

Therefore, the 6.08 million TPS figure should not be interpreted as Sui continuously processing more than six million conventional transactions per second on its base layer. It represents performance achieved under the conditions of the specific experiment.

The 6M TPS Figure Needs Context

A performance demonstration does not automatically translate into sustained network usage. The July test showed that the architecture could support extremely high throughput under specific conditions, but a network can demonstrate a high performance ceiling without applications currently requiring that level of throughput.

For developers and investors, the distinction between capacity and utilization is important. The economic value of that capacity ultimately depends on adoption.

October 7 Puts the Performance Claim Back in Focus

Sui is preparing another live demonstration for October 7, 2026, as part of Sui Basecamp 2026, where the network is emphasizing the emerging agentic economy alongside stable digital dollars, instant settlement and autonomous payments. The Sui Basecamp 2026 program provides the current context for the event.

The new demonstration gives Sui another opportunity to show whether it can reproduce or exceed its earlier performance. It also provides another public data point for developers and investors evaluating the network’s architecture.

Why Stablecoins and AI Fit the TPS Strategy

Stablecoins can create demand for fast financial settlement, while AI agents could create demand for high-frequency machine-driven transactions. This gives the 6.08 million TPS result a practical context: the performance figure provides the infrastructure story, while stablecoins and AI represent potential sources of economic demand.

Whether those applications ultimately generate enough activity to use that capacity at scale remains an open question.

SUI’s Price Move Comes as Attention Returns

The latest SUI gain gives the October 7 demonstration additional market visibility. CoinGecko’s snapshot showed SUI at approximately $1.23, up 5%, with market capitalization around $5.06 billion and trading volume near $619.9 million.

However, the available sources do not establish that investors bought SUI specifically because of Mysten Labs’ AI and stablecoin strategy or anticipation surrounding the October 7 demonstration. The more defensible conclusion is that the price increase is occurring alongside renewed attention to Sui’s technology and potential applications. Cryptocurrency prices can respond to multiple factors simultaneously.

The Bigger Test Is Adoption

Mysten Labs’ development direction brings together high throughput, stablecoins and AI agents. High throughput gives Sui the capacity to support large volumes of activity, stablecoins provide a financial use case through payments and settlement, and AI agents could create a new category of machine-driven blockchain activity. The combination gives Sui a growth thesis that extends beyond competing on transaction speed alone.

The more important test, however, will happen beyond the stage. Stablecoin payments could provide recurring financial activity, while AI agents could add a new class of machine-driven transactions. If those applications gain meaningful adoption, Sui’s high-throughput architecture could become an important part of its competitive position.

If adoption remains limited, the record would remain primarily a technical milestone. The difference between what Sui can process and what users and applications actually need it to process will remain central to its growth story.

What Comes Next

Sui is heading into October 7 with a previous throughput result of 6,086,766 TPS, a strategic emphasis on stable digital dollars and autonomous payments, and an AI-agent narrative focused on machine-driven transactions. SUI’s 5% gain to approximately $1.23 on October 5 adds market attention to that strategy.

The upcoming demonstration will show whether Sui can reproduce or exceed its earlier performance. The larger test will be whether stablecoins and AI agents can turn that technical capacity into sustained economic demand.

What this means for you: SUI rose 5% to approximately $1.23 on October 5, according to CoinGecko, as Sui prepares for another live throughput demonstration on October 7. Mysten Labs’ vision centers on moving value through the network, with stablecoins and payments providing a financial use case and AI agents representing a potential new source of machine-driven activity.

Sui previously reported 6,086,766 TPS during a July 4 experiment. The upcoming test will provide another benchmark, but sustained adoption of stablecoin and AI applications will ultimately matter more to Sui’s growth than throughput records alone.

This article is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial, investment or trading advice. Cryptocurrency prices are volatile. Sui’s 6.08 million TPS figure reflects a specific experiment using programmable tunnels and should not be interpreted as guaranteed sustained base-layer throughput. The October 7 demonstration is a future event, and its results are not yet known.
