Ethereum Classic (ETC) Surges After Coinbase Support

The San Francisco-based Company Coinbase, has decided to add support for Ethereum Classic (ETC). Coinbase is one of the most important crypto platforms all over the world that allows users to buy and sell Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and now Ethereum Classic.

This is a very positive information for the ETC community that was waiting an important support from such a known and respected company in the industry. At the moment, ETC is growing 22%.

Coinbase Adds Support for Ethereum Classic

The information has been released by Coinbase on a blog post on June the 12th. This is part of a process that is being carried out by Coinbase to keep expanding with new assets.

The company informed about it:

“We are pleased to announce our intention to add support for Ethereum Classic (ETC) to Coinbase in the coming months. We are announcing this both internally and to the public consistent with our process for adding new assets.”

Now, the company will be starting with the engineering work for supporting Ethereum Classic. The company informed that it will be announcing the launch date for trading via the blog and Tiwtter. This will be the last step in the process of listing ETC. 

Coinbase Custody, Coinbase Markets, Coinbase Pro, Coinbase Prime and Coinbase Asset Management, will be now featuring Ethereum Classic in their own way according to the services they provide.

“When we reach the final testing of the technical integration, we will announce a date that customers on Pro and Prime can begin placing limit orders on the Ethereum Classic order book on Coinbase Markets. Once that resting market reaches sufficient liquidity, we will then enable trading,” explains Coinbase.

The company is now having some talks with regulatory agencies in the United States to be able to feature ERC-20 tokens that are created by Initial Coin Offerings and that are considered as securities by the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

This is a very important step in Coinbase’s plans to keep expanding with new and different kind of assets.

At the moment of writing this article, Ethereum Classic is growing 22% and it is being traded around $15.78 dollars. It has a market capitalization of $1.6 billion dollars and is the 18th most important cryptocurrency in the market.
