CheapAir will be accepting Bitcoin payments through BTCPayServer after Coinbase shut down its merchant platform some months ago. The online travel agency will be working with a new payment processor so as to allow customers pay with the famous crypto.
CheapAir and BTCPayServer Enable Bitcoin Payments
The CheapAir.com travel agency, has been working day after day searching for a replacement for the merchant solution provided by Coinbase.

Jeff Klee, CEO of CheapAir, wrote in a blog post:
“For about month now, we have been testing an open source Bitcoin payment processor, BTCPayServer, which, admittedly, I had never heard of before several of you suggested I take a look at it.”
The company will be doing a more efficient work with the latest implementation. As explained by the CEO, they find it very positive this change because they can do a much better job handling occasional anomalies inherent in the crypto commerce.
“We know we’re not the only retailer affected by the Coinbase action that had to find new solutions or make a difficult decision,” the company explains. “We believe that accepting digital currency has been a win-win for both CheapAir and our customers. So we decided to double down without reservation.”
CheapAir has been working with Coinbase accepting also other currencies including Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC) and Dash (DASH). Since Coinbase shut down its merchant platform in April, the company has been working for an alternative.
For the company, accepting digital currencies has been a win-win situation for CheapAir and its customers. So, this is why it decided to search a solution to the problem as fast as possible.

Other companies have been accepting cryptocurrency payments for their products and services over the last years. Indeed, some airlines, for example, have been selling tickets for virtual currencies. We can mention Star Jets International which has been accepting virtual currency payments since the end of the last year.
