Peach Aviation Clarifies its Position About Accepting Bitcoin Payments for Plane Tickets

Even amid an important market correction, Bitcoin keeps expanding around the world. The most important Low-Cost airlines in Japan has clarified its position about implementing bitcoin payments for tickets. Due to the important hack suffered by Coincheck, some reports were saying that the company was rethinking its strategy regarding bitcoin payments. But the company has clarified its official position on the matter.

Peach is Planning to Accept Bitcoin

According to different reports, Peach was going to accept bitcoin payments at the end of 2017. The intention was to encourage visitors from all over the world to visit Japan and its different regions. In addition to it, the plan was to introduce bitcoin ATMs in different airport terminals and offer a bitcoin wallet.

Shinichi Inoue, Peach’s CEO told:

“We wan to encourage visitors from overseas and the revitalization of Japan’s regions. This is a real first step in partnerships for Japan and we are aiming for more company and service tie-ups.”

The company has explained that due to price fluctuations intensifying in 2017, it is waiting for the cryptocurrency market to settle. Furthermore, a spokesperson has been quoted saying that the company is not abandoning the plan to accept bitcoin payments.

If this was not enough to stop the rumours about this situation, Bitcoin Japan has issued a statement explaining the situation. “We will notify you as to the specific service start time and its contents as soon as it finalized,” they wrote.

The company is one of the most important airlines in Japan, operating more than 90 daily flights in several international and domestic routes. According to the company, every day it has more than 13,000 daily passengers.

Peach is not the first airline that is accepting Bitcoin payments for its tickets. Star Jets International, has decided to accept bitcoin payments in October 2017. In this way, several airlines join the exclusive club of companies accepting Bitcoin. LOT Polish Airlines has been accepting Bitcoin payments but it has finally decided to disable this option for its customers.
