Ondo Brings Tokenized US Stocks and ETFs to NEAR

Ondo Finance has launched tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs on near.com and NEAR Intents, allowing eligible users to buy and hold assets such as tokenized NVIDIA, Tesla, Apple, and QQQ alongside their crypto.

The launch initially includes 20 tokenized assets and lets users fund purchases with USDC, Bitcoin, and other supported assets held across more than 30 blockchain networks. The integration uses NEAR Intents to handle cross-chain routing and execute confidential transactions.

The partnership gives NEAR users access to tokenized traditional financial assets without opening a separate brokerage account, bridging assets between networks, or using a second wallet.

Ondo Stocks Go Live on near.com

The integration brings Ondo’s tokenized securities directly into the near.com account experience.

Eligible users can fund their accounts with supported crypto, purchase tokenized stocks or ETFs, hold the assets, and later exchange them back into USDC or another supported asset.

The initial lineup includes tokenized versions of major companies such as NVIDIA, Tesla, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon. It also includes ETFs such as QQQ, along with tokenized precious-metals ETFs including SLV and IAU.

Ondo said its tokenized securities platform has more than $1 billion in total value locked and over $26 billion in cumulative trading volume.

NEAR Intents Handles Cross-Chain Trading

NEAR Intents acts as the routing layer behind the integration. Near.com can accept assets from different blockchain networks and route transactions to the destination asset, without requiring users to manually bridge funds between chains.

The system also provides confidential execution. Transactions can be settled through NEAR’s infrastructure without publicly linking the transaction to the user’s identity.

This means users can move from crypto assets into tokenized stocks through a single account rather than managing separate wallets and blockchain connections.

Ondo’s assets are also available through NEAR Intents to participating wallets, decentralized finance applications, and other platforms connected to the network.

Tokenized Stocks Are Not the Same as Traditional Shares

The launch gives users on-chain exposure to U.S. stocks and ETFs, but the tokens do not represent direct ownership of the underlying securities.

Ondo states that its tokenized stocks and ETFs provide economic exposure to the underlying assets but do not give holders ownership rights or rights to receive the underlying securities.

The products are also subject to jurisdictional restrictions. Ondo says the assets are not available in the United States, to U.S. persons, in Canada, or in other prohibited jurisdictions.

This distinction is important because buying a tokenized version of a stock is not necessarily the same as buying that company’s shares through a traditional brokerage.

Tokenized Stocks Move Further Into Onchain Markets

The launch comes as tokenized securities receive more attention from financial institutions and regulators.

On September 17, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission introduced temporary conditional exemptions for certain platforms trading tokenized National Market System stocks through permissioned automated market makers and liquidity pools.

The SEC’s framework requires tokenized stocks traded under the exemption to give holders the same rights and privileges as equivalent traditional shares. It also includes conditions covering trading limits, issuer notification, smart-contract audits, and coordination with trading halts on the underlying stock.

Ondo’s NEAR launch is separate from that SEC exemption and does not make its products available to U.S. users. However, the timing shows how tokenized securities are developing alongside changes in the regulatory and market infrastructure surrounding blockchain-based financial assets.

What Comes Next

The NEAR integration gives eligible users another way to access Ondo’s tokenized stocks and ETFs through a single crypto account. More assets and additional applications could become available as Ondo Stocks expands through NEAR Intents and other connected platforms.

For NEAR, the launch adds tokenized traditional assets to an ecosystem already focused on cross-chain crypto activity. For Ondo, it provides another distribution route for its tokenized securities as blockchain-based access to stocks and ETFs expands across different networks.

What This Means for You: Eligible users can now access selected tokenized stocks and ETFs through near.com using supported crypto from multiple networks. However, availability depends on location and eligibility, and the tokens provide economic exposure rather than direct ownership of the underlying shares.
