Ethereum’s mastermind, Vitalik Buterin, has officially earned the right to reside and work in Taiwan for renewable three-year periods.
Recent news from Taiwanese sources reveals that the nation’s digital minister has vouched for Buterin’s attainment of the Taiwan Employment Gold Card. This initiative, aimed at drawing foreign talent and entrepreneurs, offers a simplified process for residency and visa applications.
Speaking on the occasion, Buterin remarked,
“Taiwan has always been a great experience for me. Given the strong Ethereum presence here, having the gold card will undoubtedly make my frequent visits smoother.”
Earlier in the year, there were indications from Bloomberg that Taiwan had its sights set on designating the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) as the lead authority overseeing the cryptocurrency domain. Insiders informed Bloomberg that the FSC, in collaboration with other governmental sections and crypto sector representatives, is shaping a definitive regulatory blueprint.
Highlighting this move towards clarity, significant players like Binance Holdings, Matrixport Technologies, and Woo Network LLC joined forces to draft a document. This paper advocated for transparent and accommodating regulations for those functioning within Taiwan’s crypto space.
The joint paper elucidated,
“We’ve seen certain regions struggle when trying to fit virtual assets within the confines of existing financial regulations. Such ambiguity only creates confusion for businesses, regulatory bodies, and consumers alike.”
