Ripple announced a strategic investment in Notabene on July 23, 2026, a deal that will route the company’s RLUSD stablecoin into Notabene’s enterprise compliance network. The investment amount was not disclosed, but it connects RLUSD to a system that already links more than 2,300 institutions across over 100 jurisdictions and moves over $2 trillion in annualized volume. Jack McDonald, Ripple’s SVP of Stablecoin, said the move targets a trust gap that has slowed institutional stablecoin adoption.
The Trust Layer Ripple Just Bought Into
Notabene operates what it calls the world’s largest open network for regulated on-chain transactions, verifying counterparties and authorizing payments before they settle. According to Notabene’s announcement, the network now serves more than 280 customers, including tier-1 banks, custodians, and global exchanges.
Ripple’s stake will fold RLUSD into Notabene Flow, the company’s business-to-business stablecoin platform that already handles pull payments, recurring payments, and automated invoicing.
The two companies are also exploring whether Notabene’s pre-transaction authorization tools can work alongside Ripple Payments, Ripple’s existing cross-border settlement product.
The Institutions That Stand to Benefit First
The deal targets banks, custodians, and fintechs already piloting stablecoin settlement, not retail XRP holders directly. Because Notabene already runs compliance checks across more than $2 trillion in yearly volume, banks can add RLUSD without building new verification systems from scratch, a pattern that fits the wider wave of institutional stablecoin partnerships covered in our crypto news coverage.
Pelle Braendgaard, Notabene’s co-founder and CEO, described institutions as having moved past debating whether to use stablecoins and toward figuring out how to do it safely at scale.
Whether More Institutions Follow Ripple Onto Notabene Flow
Notabene said in its announcement that expanding strategic partnerships is central to scaling Notabene Flow, and it expects to add more financial institutions over the coming quarters. Whether that happens will help decide if the new RLUSD volume shows up on the XRP Ledger, which passed Ethereum in late June to hold the largest share of RLUSD supply of any network, according to Yahoo Finance Crypto.
What This Means for You
This deal does not send new XRP tokens into circulation or change XRP’s price mechanics on its own. What it does is give RLUSD a faster path into bank and fintech systems that already handle billions in regulated volume, which could eventually mean more RLUSD activity settling on the XRP Ledger. Any change to XRP itself would depend on how much of that institutional volume starts moving on-chain.
