Flare Smart Accounts v1.3: XRP DeFi Now One Signature

Flare Smart Accounts v1.3 launched on July 28, 2026, cutting XRP-to-DeFi onboarding to a single XRP Ledger signature. The update replaces a two-signature process with one XRPL transaction that mints FXRP, Flare’s tokenized representation of XRP, and deposits it into a yield vault, according to Flare Network. More than 40 million XRP is already earning yield through Smart Accounts across nearly 24,000 accounts, the company said.

How One XRPL Signature Replaces the Old Bridge Steps

Moving XRP into Flare’s DeFi ecosystem used to mean setting up a separate EVM wallet, buying a gas token, and completing a manual bridge transaction before reaching a vault. Flare’s official announcement describes the new flow instead: a holder picks a vault, signs once from the XRPL wallet they already use, and Flare’s Data Connector verifies that signature before a smart contract mints FXRP and deposits it automatically.

The XRP stays on the XRP Ledger under FXRP’s 1:1 collateral backing, with no separate custodian holding funds. Version 1.3 also widens the entry points and destinations. Ledger, Xaman, Joey Wallet, and WalletConnect-compatible wallets including Bifrost now connect to Smart Accounts, joining the D’CENT hardware integration live since May 2026.

On the vault side, the existing Monarq XRP Yield Vault, majority-owned by FalconX, is now joined by a new Clearstar Flare XRP Yield Vault running a fully on-chain lending strategy, which has already held more than 33 million FXRP in deposits.

What Changes for XRP Holders Already Watching DeFi

For XRP holders who stopped at the wallet-setup step rather than the yield itself, removing that step targets the real bottleneck. When Flare’s FAssets integration first expanded native XRP support in May 2026, the network’s total value locked rose 20% in the following weeks, according to Yahoo Finance Crypto. That pattern, easier access driving deposits, is the bet Flare is repeating, a trend that our altcoin DeFi coverage racks on its altcoins hub.

The FXRP Growth Level Flare Is Chasing Next

Flare’s own figures show FXRP deployed in DeFi grew nearly 75% since February 2026, from 82 million to 144 million by the July 28 release. Whether one-signature onboarding pushes that number meaningfully higher this quarter, once new Ledger and WalletConnect users start routing XRP into Monarq’s and Clearstar’s vaults, is the clearest test of the update.

What This Means for You

If you hold XRP and have wanted yield without learning a new blockchain, Smart Accounts v1.3 gets you there with one signature from a wallet you may already use, including Xaman, Ledger, or Joey Wallet.

You choose between two vaults, Monarq’s mixed strategy or Clearstar’s fully on-chain lending approach, and your XRP stays under your own control throughout. Yield on both vaults moves week to week rather than sitting at a fixed rate, so check current vault terms before committing funds.
