Pundi X (PUNDIX) is a crypto payments company that began work in 2017 with the goal of making cryptocurrency easier to spend. It started with XPOS, a point-of-sale device that lets shops accept crypto, and in 2026 it also builds Pundi AI data tools. Its token was called NPXS until March 2021, when it was swapped for PUNDIX.

How did NPXS become PUNDIX?
Pundi X swapped NPXS for PUNDIX in March 2021 at a ratio of 1,000 NPXS to 1 PUNDIX. Pundi X Labs announced the redenomination on March 19, 2021, and the swap began at 14:00 GMT+8 on March 30, 2021. Pundi X said NPXS held in XWallet or on supporting exchanges would be swapped automatically, and holders with NPXS in private wallets had to follow a swap guide from Pundi X. CoinGecko shows about 258.4 million PUNDIX in supply as of October 29, 2026. Pundi X’s support pages are the place to ask whether any unswapped NPXS can still be exchanged.
What does Pundi X do in 2026?
Pundi X says it delivers blockchain-based payment infrastructure and AI-driven solutions, and its legal entity, Pundi X Labs Pte. Ltd., is headquartered in Singapore. Its website offers XPOS as a terminal and software stack for merchant acquirers, processors and payment platforms, running as a module on Verifone’s X990 terminal. Pundi AI, its decentralized AI data initiative, includes a data platform, a data marketplace and a data pump, and Pundi X says Pundi AI belongs to the NVIDIA Inception Program. The site also lists Stock Basket, a platform on Ethereum for baskets of tokenized US stocks. Pundi X’s Medium posts from April and May 2026 announce work with UQUID, Infini, PROM, Kuvi and Units.Network.
In December 2025 Pundi X announced that Pundi X Chain would shut down on March 1, 2026 as its ecosystem moved to Ethereum. On February 24, 2026 it deferred the shutdown, and it said PUNDIX on Ethereum was not affected.
The original 2018 plan
This section and the three that follow describe Pundi X as its 2018 whitepaper presented it. Products and numbers have changed since, as the sections above explain.
As a whole, the decentralized platform is based on three inter-playing pieces of technology: the Pundi X platform, its mobile wallets, and the card payment system. Pundi X aims to distribute various PoS (point-of-sale) smart devices to retailers who will be then able to accept payments in the form of Pundi X tokens. Customers can either pay for goods with the cryptocurrency already stored on a wallet or purchase cryptocurrency. The tokens will also play a big part in qualifying customers for various discounts, as well as for supplying gas for the transactions and advertisements.
The company has put it straightforwardly in the project’s whitepaper that it is aiming to establish itself as the Walmart or 7-Eleven of blockchains. Pundi X also claims that their system is better than Bitcoin ATMs. First of all, the devices are smaller than the Bitcoin ATMs, and the involved costs will be lower. The fact that the devices are portable and that they offer greater utility than Bitcoin ATMs is also bound to make a difference.
In 2018 the team vowed to distribute more than 100,000 devices within three years, in the hope that the platform would become the biggest decentralized offline cryptocurrency network.
The first PoS devices were distributed in Indonesia, the largest country in South-East Asia, and in 2018 the team planned to expand to other Asian countries such as Thailand and Malaysia.
Every PoS device was to connect to the Ethereum and NEM blockchains through components called XPlugins, so that blockchain developers from all over the world could connect to the Pundi X network’s devices and financial outlets.

Mobile wallet (2018 plan)
The mobile wallet is part of why Pundi X is so easy to use. This particular wallet ensures that users don’t have to manage their public and private keys as in the case of so many cryptocurrencies out there. Instead, users can use a password system that is fairly similar to that usually associated with bank-related procedures.
Smart card payment (2018 plan)
The smart card is yet another reason why this system is so user-friendly. One of the main reasons why this card is so useful is the fact that it can be used without requiring the mobile application. However, it can work in conjunction with the mobile app. It allows users to pay with funds from crypto wallets or traditional mobile wallets.
With the help of this smart card, Pundi X is providing everyone with the possibility of buying products using cryptocurrency. According to the whitepaper, “most cryptocurrencies can only be used to buy other cryptocurrencies (and this) reduces the relevance of them to almost zero for most people.”
The platform (2018 plan)
Pundi X’s platform is made out of everything from software protocols to all the hardware devices involved in the functioning of the Pundi X ecosystem. These include all the PoS devices, as well as all the involved SDKs and APIs.
