Chainlink has unveiled Chainlink Data Streams, a revolutionary development aimed at curtailing network latency, elevating the brand’s position in the blockchain data oracle landscape. This product is in its early access stage on Arbitrum, a Layer 2 platform, marking a significant stride towards enhanced efficiency and reduced operational costs.
Data Streams leverages a pull-based data oracle solution, a departure from the conventional push-based models. This innovation ensures high-frequency market data is consistently accessible off-chain. Oracle reports, generated per block, can be retrieved off-chain and subsequently validated with on-chain transactions. This mechanism dramatically slashes the latency periods associated with data packet movement, a challenge that has been a constant pain point in distributed networks.
Chainlink’s co-founder, Sergey Nazarov, lauded Data Streams for its capability to not only match the execution speeds and user experience offered by centralized exchanges but to surpass them by embedding the quintessential Web3 values of transparency, fairness, and decentralization.
In a parallel development, Chainlink announced the deployment of new decentralized computing capabilities, introducing Functions Beta and Automation 2.0 on the mainnet. Functions Beta facilitates seamless connectivity of decentralized applications to any application program interface (API), a crucial intermediary that ensures smooth data transfer between systems.
Automation 2.0 stands as a testament to cost efficiency, enabling the automation of high-value jobs at a fraction of the conventional cost, promising up to 90% savings in gas expenses.
Kemal El Moujahid, the Chief Product Officer at Chainlink Labs, expressed his enthusiasm about these updates. He highlighted their potential to set a benchmark for developers, enabling them to integrate heterogeneous Web3 components effortlessly with any existing system.
