IOTA Becomes The Largest Winner
As per the report released by Reuters, Jaguar will be using IOTA’s technology in order to tackle car emission and also traffic congestion. One of the main goals is to help the company reduce the number of car accidents.
In order to do so, the new fleet of Jaguar cars will include smart crypto wallets. These wallets will be completely integrated into the car’s system. The new Jaguar F-PACE will also include these crypto-related wallets. Users that share data with the company will earn IOTA.
At the moment, these smart crypto wallets are in their testing stage and there is no information regarding the launch date for this implementation. The technology does not seem to be available for commercial use.
On the matter, IOTA’s co-founder, Dominik Schiener, explained:
“The smart wallet technology… can be easily adapted into all new vehicles. IOTA wants to enable interoperability with all these different players. So there is no Jaguar coin, no BMW coin, but one universal token for this machine economy.”
Because of this announcement and partnership, the digital asset has skyrocketed. IOTA became the largest winner in the top 100 in a day in which most of the digital currencies are falling against the USD.
It is worth mentioning that IOTA price remains 94% down from its all-time high registered in December 2019. Although most of the virtual currencies registered important price increases since the beginning of April, IOTA didn’t perform positively as expected.
At the time of writing, the digital currency is being traded around $0.3059 according to CoinMarketCap. At the same time, it has a market capitalization of $850 million. In the last 24 hours, IOTA grew 14.6% reaching the 15th position in the market.
Back in 2018, IOTA announced that it has joined MOBI alongside Ford, General Motors, BM and Renault. MOBI is a global consortium of vehicle manufacturers that work on innovative solutions for the automotive industry around the world.
