According to Sebastian Borget, co-founder of The Sandbox and speaker at Consensus 2023, the usage of artificial intelligence (AI) may expedite the rate at which unique content is produced in the metaverse.
During an interview with CoinDesk TV’s “First Mover” on Thursday, Nicolas Julia, the co-founder of the blockchain-based virtual world The Sandbox, shared that the use of AI will significantly speed up the creative process. He stated that what used to take days, from ideation to conception, can now be done in a matter of seconds with the help of AI, which will further empower creators.
The Sandbox is a platform for culture and entertainment that allows people to create, own, and sell their own virtual game environments. According to Borget, the Hong Kong-based platform’s Game Client was installed more than 1.3 million times last year and has a digital presence in nations such as Saudi Arabia, Dubai, China, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates.
Much interest has been shown in AI. Responses to some of its use cases, such as ChatGPT’s next generation, have been generally positive and unfavorably critical. For instance, in March, Neal Stephenson, the author of the science-fiction classic “Snow Crash,” in which he first used the phrase “metaverse,” declared that he found neither platforms like ChatGPT nor AI, in general, to be at all intriguing.
But according to Borget, one of the systems that might promote the expansion of the metaverse is AI. According to him, the technology eliminates the need to construct each element of an environment or an avatar persona. He continued by saying that AI can produce and populate the experiences that it develops considerably faster.
Borget mentioned that leveraging AI can enable creators to make the metaverse more lively, creative, and inclusive, making it more enjoyable to play.
