The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has partnered with Upland, a popular metaverse startup, in order to enter the web3 industry. With this new partnership, fans will get access to unique meetups and they will also be able to participate in collectables sales. This is just one of the many partnerships in football with metaverse companies.

Argentina Football Association Signs Up Metaverse Partnership

AFA is now signing a new metaverse partnership with Upland in order to expand its presence in the web3 market. The information was released by Upland in a press release a few hours ago. Some of the positive things about this partnership include exclusive in-game video footage from matches from Argentina’s football team.

The press release reads as follows:

“This partnership gives Argentina fans a friendly way to get their fan on in the metaverse, while Uplanders have an incredible new football experience from one of the top football associations on the planet. Also, at the beginning of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, we announced that we’d open a new city for the tournament winner.”

Additionally, AFA President, Claudio Fabian Tapia, explained that the agreement will allow the association to partner with some of the best creators in the space. This would then bring new exciting digital products that would create a source of income for all those clubs that take part in the initiative.

It is worth taking into consideration that Upland offers the possibility to participants to buy and sell virtual land linked to real-world places. This metaverse has already more than 3 million accounts registered and the goal is to keep expanding in multiple markets, including Latin America and Argentina.

One of Upland’s main competitors is Decentraland (MANA). Decentraland is perhaps also the most known project in the Metaverse. Therefore, Upland will have to work hard in order to compete with these types of projects. However, the most recent partnership with AFA shows that their intentions are real and that they will continue to develop their market presence around the globe.

Another thing that is worth pointing out is that ARG, the Argentine Football Association fan token, started to move higher before the world cup and it skyrocketed when Argentina won the World Cup in Qatar this year. The token surged to almost $9 per coin, but it then plummetted to $2.20 as euphoria settled.

Multiple projects in the crypto industry are establishing new partnerships with companies and football associations or clubs. They recognize that there is a clear interest from fans to participate in multiple token sales and exclusive events. Moreover, with the growth of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and similar collectables, there is also a new market that startups are starting to take. The surprising thing is that these projects continue to operate even during bear markets where digital currencies fall and register new lows.

Therefore, we could see multiple new projects take part in the metaverse engaging with fans and combining the digital world with the real world.Â
