In Taiwan, two individuals that wanted to sell their Bitcoins face to face with another interested person, suffered from an attack. 18 Bitcoins were stolen. Fortunately, the police caught the suspected criminals after the event.
Crypto Stealers Captured
The safest way to sell and buy cryptocurrencies are registered and known cryptocurrency exchanges. But sometimes, individuals that do not want to call the government attention try to sell them to other people.
Tai, the man that suffered from the attack, came to the Taiwanese city of Taichung in order to close the deal. Tai was not alone, he was with a friend of him, just in case. The deal was between Tai and three other men that wanted his Bitcoin and arranged the meeting beforehand.
But things changed after he shown that he had 18 bitcoins. The three criminals attacked Tai and his friend and forced him to transfer his Bitcoins to them. After the argue, the stealers forced them to drink a liquor in order to make the theft look like a drunken fight between friends.
Taiwanese Law Caught Them
After the dispute, the police arrived at the place. Two of the three crooks were able to escape, but a third was detained. This was the first Bitcoin robbery that took place in Taiwan, the first of the many others to come.
There are no reports about the destiny of these 18 Bitcoins. The security forces are more cautious than never before with these kind of attacks. Bitcoin has reached important price levels that make of it much more valuable than before. When meeting with strangers to sell or buy bitcoins is always important to do it in a known place, with people and accompanied.
