Stellar Lumens (XLM), one of the most interesting projects in the cryptocurrency market, is now involved in a new donations campaign to non-profits. The Stellar Development Foundation is going to be matching XLM donations that are made to six non-profits during the whole month of April.

Stellar Development Foundation Matches Donations To Non-Profits

Amid the Covid-19 crisis, the Stellar Development Foundation is going to be matching donations in XLM. They will be doing so up to a maximum of 1.9 million XLM, which is close to $79,000 at current prices. At the same time, the Foundation has already donated 100,000 XLM to each of the charities that are participating in this new donation campaign. It is worth taking into consideration that Stellar Lumens price was affected by the Coronavirus crisis.

The official site of the campaign is called lumentrhopy and it explains that a large number of individuals are losing their jobs due to the current Coronavirus crisis. Considering that the Stellar Development Foundation has been partnering over the last years with a large number of Non-profits, they decided to help them and get also experience on how to handle XLM.

The non-profits to which the Stelar Development Foundation is going to match donations include Unicef France, the Tor Project, Heifer International, Watsi, Freedom of the Press and Women Who Code. All of them are considered to be 501(c)(3) non profits.

On the matter, the official announcement reads as follows:

“During the entire month of April, Stellar lumen donations (XLM) made to any of the six 501(c)(3) nonprofits listed below will be matched, up to a total of 1.9 million XLM, by the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF). To kickoff the fundraising, the SDF will donate an additional 100,000 XLM to each of the six nonprofits!”

The Stellar community is usually very active in terms of handling XLM considering that this blockchain project has handled their marketing campaign in a different way from other crypto companies. In general, the Stellar project airdrops funds to expand XLM usage and the number of users all over the world.

As per the official press release, the Stellar Development Foundation believes that there is no better time than now to have a positive impact on the abovementioned non-profits.

This is not the first time that there is a philanthropic campaign in the cryptocurrency market. In the past, we have written about how Binance is promoting donations to several projects and initiatives and how the Pineapple Fund donated a large amount of BTC to several non-profits.
