We, UseTheBitcoin, interviewed David de-Vilder, the Chief Executive Officer of Tribally Games.
Career Beginnings in Software Engineering
David de-Vilder, known for his work in Web3, has worked in software engineering for over 17 years. He earned a top Master’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Warwick before starting his career in finance through a training program at Merrill Lynch.
Soon after he joined, Bank of America took over the company, leading to many layoffs. Despite the challenges, David stayed for about eight years, moving from a technical role to leading big projects across different countries. He managed over 100 applications worldwide, handling planning, design, and development.
Finance Career and Move to Startups
During his eight years at Bank of America, David went from being a hands-on engineer to leading big projects across different countries. He managed over 100 applications worldwide, focusing on planning, design, and development. After his first child was born, he left the corporate world for a better work-life balance. He became CTO at Dell’s first startup in residence, working with Microsoft to build one of the first apps for Office 365.
A few years later, he returned to finance at Assets Capital, a peer-to-peer lending company, where he led its technology division while staying close to home.
Discovering Web3 and Axie Infinity
In late 2020, David discovered Axie Infinity, a fast-growing blockchain game. The community was small then, making it easy to connect with other players. Though he had invested in cryptocurrency since 2017, Web3 gaming was different—combining gaming and finance.
He quickly got involved, trying Axie breeding and marketplace trading. As a developer, he noticed problems and created AxieTech, a tool that automated price checks and helped users see asset values. What started as a small side project soon became popular, making David known in Web3 gaming.
The Creation of Tribally

The success of AxieTech showed a need for better Web3 gaming infrastructure, which inspired David to create Tribally. He founded Tribally to solve problems in blockchain gaming, such as automation, scalability, and user experience. Many Web3 games lacked the right tools to support their ecosystems, so he and his team built a platform to provide smooth infrastructure solutions for blockchain gaming projects.
Tribally was designed to connect traditional game development with blockchain technology by offering automated asset management to improve in-game economies, market analysis tools to help players and developers track asset values, and integration solutions to make Web3 adoption easier for game studios. With his software engineering, finance, and Web3 development background, David made Tribally a key player in the growing blockchain gaming space.
