BitMine Immersion Technologies (NYSE: BMNR) added 9,926 ETH over the past week, pushing its total Ethereum stack to 5.82 million tokens, the company said in a PR Newswire disclosure dated August 17, 2026.
That holding now equals 4.8% of the entire 120.7 million ETH supply, and it comes alongside total crypto, cash, and marketable securities of $11.4 billion. Chairman Thomas Lee framed the purchase as part of an unbroken streak that has defined the company’s strategy since mid-2025.
The Streak Behind the 5.82 Million ETH Total
Bitmine has now bought ETH every single week since launching its ETH Treasury Strategy on June 30, 2025, a run of roughly 14 months without a skipped week, according to Bitmine’s PR Newswire disclosure. Lee said, “Over the past week, we acquired 9,926 ETH,” a pace that keeps the company just short of its self-described “Alchemy of 5%” target, which it now says it has reached 96% of the way toward.
The accumulation sits alongside a separate buyback. Bitmine repurchased 1.7 million common shares in the past week, bringing its cumulative repurchases to more than 20.8 million shares since July 2026 under a $4 billion program.
Lee called the buyback the largest ever executed by any Ethereum, Bitcoin, or crypto digital asset treasury company. The company also disclosed 5,067,309 ETH currently staked, worth roughly $9.6 billion at $1,893 per ETH, generating an annualized yield of 2.61%.
Bitmine’s ETH treasury now ranks as the largest in the world and the second-largest crypto treasury overall, trailing only Strategy Inc., which reportedly holds 840,447 BTC valued near $58 billion.
Weekly Buys Add Up to a Consistency Pattern
Bitmine’s weekly purchase streak, detailed in our earlier coverage of the company’s 10,399 ETH addition, shows a treasury strategy built on consistency rather than one-off buys, which matters more to ETH’s supply dynamics than any single week’s headline number.
The scale of these purchases is also the kind of institutional demand signal that shows up in our broader crypto news coverage of ETH treasury companies as a group, not just Bitmine alone.
The Next Milestone on the Path to 5%
Bitmine sits 96% of the way to its self-set goal of holding 5% of all ETH in circulation, meaning roughly 190,000 more tokens at current supply levels would close the gap. Lee has tied that milestone to the company’s broader thesis that the ETH/BTC ratio, now at 0.02994 and rising above a multi-year downtrend, will keep climbing as tokenization and agentic-AI applications move onto Ethereum.
What this means for you: If you’re tracking ETH supply and corporate demand, Bitmine’s unbroken 14-month buying streak is a stronger signal of sustained institutional appetite than any single week’s total.
