A video gamer received around $70,000 worth of Bitcoin (BTC) while doing a live stream. The player is called Sick_Nerd and the donations were performed by the user called ‘lightpuma.’ This information was released by CryptoGlobe a few days ago.

User Donates $70,000 to Livestreamer

During the live stream, Sick_Nerd unexpectedly received over $70,000 in Bitcoin donations. In the beginning, he believed that he was being pranked, however, the donations were real.

About it, he wrote on Twitter:

“Thank you to my mysteriously benefactor whoever you are, genuinely a life changing amount of money that I or nobody deserves but look what happened. Crazy.”

The donations were equal to £57,641, equal to $74,080 at the time of writing. Taking into account a price of $3,616 per Bitcoin, he received 20.49 BTC.

The game he was playing is called RuneScape and is an MMORPG with several awards. In the past, it was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as having the most users in a Massively Multiplayer Online video game. The game registered more than 250 million users.

Twitch started to accept crypto donations back in 2018 when Bitcoin and virtual currencies were falling from their all-time high. In order to process the donations, the company partnered with Streamlabs. The coins supported include Bitcoin, Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Ethereum (ETH).

Streamlabs is not only supported by Twitch but also by other streaming platforms, including YouTube.

There are several individuals that take this as a job. Some of the most popular streamers can earn around $20,000 per month. They use to receive donations, make advertisements for other companies or firms and also from subscriptions.

This is not the first time that there is a generous donor in the virtual currency space. In the past, we wrote at UseTheBitcoin about the Pineapple Fund. This initiative was started by an anonymous individual that had several millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin. During the bull market, this user saw its funds grow exponentially and decided to donate $55 million to charities.

The official website about the Pineapple Fund reads as follows.

“Timed with the 2017 crypto bubble,5104 BTC was turned into $55 million for charities. I’m happy and proud of the impact that will come, mostly thanks to the amazing charities and the dedicated people behind them.”
