Schwab Crypto Adds Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink

Charles Schwab announced plans on August 27, 2026 to add three new tokens, solana, avalanche, and chainlink, to its Schwab Crypto platform, giving clients more ways to build digital asset exposure alongside their existing investments. The additions will roll out in the coming months, expanding a platform that currently offers direct access to bitcoin and ethereum trading only.

Where Schwab Crypto Stands Today

Schwab Crypto began rolling out to clients in May 2026, and the platform already lets users trade bitcoin and ethereum directly. Adding solana, avalanche, and chainlink would roughly double the number of tokens available, Schwab said in a press release distributed via Business Wire, moving the platform from a two-asset lineup into a broader mix of established cryptocurrencies.

Joe Vietri, Schwab’s Head of Digital Assets, said the expansion gives clients more choices for building a digital asset allocation alongside the investing and banking experience they already use at Schwab. He framed the new additions as consistent with Schwab’s approach of offering familiar cryptocurrencies backed by education, tools, and support.

What the Platform Includes Beyond Token Access

Schwab Crypto pairs direct trading with a set of resources aimed at helping clients understand digital assets rather than just buy them. That includes education and commentary from the Schwab Center for Financial Research, plus crypto-focused content through Schwab Coaching.

Clients can also view and trade cryptocurrency alongside traditional investments on Schwab.com, Schwab Mobile, and thinkorswim, the firm’s trading platform. Schwab has priced trades at 75 basis points on the dollar value of each transaction, which the company describes as among the lowest in the industry, and backs the platform with 24/7 support from its service team.

Why Solana News Is Circulating Alongside This Announcement

Solana’s own account acknowledged the Schwab news shortly after it broke, a sign of how closely projects track which platforms add their tokens.

For a token like SOL, inclusion on a major brokerage platform expands the pool of investors who can access it through an account they already use, rather than requiring a separate crypto exchange.

Schwab has said it plans to add more cryptocurrencies and digital assets to the platform over time, though the company noted it may delay, modify, or withdraw support for any announced asset based on market, regulatory, operational, or risk-related developments, a pattern worth tracking alongside other crypto news as platforms expand their token offerings.

What to Watch Next

Watch for Schwab’s official rollout date for solana, avalanche, and chainlink trading, along with any updates on additional tokens the company adds to the platform going forward. Schwab Crypto accounts remain unavailable in New York, Louisiana, and outside the US, so eligibility depends on where you live.

What this means for you: If you already use Schwab for investing and have been curious about crypto, this expansion means you’ll soon be able to add solana, avalanche, and chainlink to your existing account instead of opening a separate exchange, though it’s worth reviewing Schwab’s risk disclosures first since digital assets remain a purely speculative, uninsured investment.

This is not financial advice. Cryptocurrencies carry the risk of total loss of principal, are not FDIC insured or SIPC protected, and involve volatility and risks that differ from traditional investments.
