Many different enterprises all over the world are implementing this technology in order to improve their services. JD.com, Walmart, and now Carrefour is testing this technology to help its customers. With this implementation, customers will be able to know more about the products that they are purchasing at Carrefour.

Carrefour Implements Blockchain Technology

Carrefour is one of the most important European retailers, it operates in several countries and now, it is trying to implement blockchain technology. Before, if you wanted to know how the chicken was raised, which was its diet, or how it arrived to the shop, you could only ask the vendor. It was a little bit complicated to track the origins of the products. Now, with blockchain technology, this task is much easier.

With just a smartphone, you will be able to scan the QR code of the product and know everything about the product you have bought.

At the moment, chicken is the only product available, but other products will be able to be tracked, like eggs, cheese, milk and other vegetables.

The company explained in a press release:

“The launch of blockchain technology marks an important milestone in the implementation of the Carrefour 2022 transformation plan. Already used for free-range Carrefour Quality Line Auvergne chickens, it will be rolled out to eight more animal and vegetable product lines, such as eggs, cheese, milk, oranges, tomatoes, salmon and ground beef steak. An innovative system designed guarantee consumers complete product traceability.”

JD.com Blockchain Development to Improve Food Safety

Carrefour is not the only company that is working with blockchain technology. JD.com, the giant Chinese e-commerce platform, is working in order to implement a blockchain system that will allow its customers to track the supply chain of its meat sales.

The company explains that this implementation will reduce toxic meats to arrive at the stores. In this way, consumers’ safety and confidence will be boosted.

Walmart, is also working on its own blockchain tracking system.
