Ripple’s (XRP) journey has been filled with ups and downs, regulatory challenges, low volume, and less volatility over the years despite its innovative technology that has captured the attention of many investors and institutional players as it aims to bring a solution faced by traditional finance concerning cross-border business.
With the emergence of Ripple’s stablecoin (RLUSD) on the XRP ledger and the Ethereum network providing deep liquidity, the plan to provide lasting solutions to cross-border payment with low transaction fees at a fast speed could become achievable, impacting the price of XRP to the upside.
In early January 2025, XRP dipped to about $2.1 after rallying by over 350% in a single month, and analysts called the pullback healthy.
At the time, technical and fundamental analysts agreed the price of Ripple (XRP) could be on the move with eyes set on a new high towards the region of $5 after the price of XRP found a good support region around $2.
Below, we look at why analysts expected $5 in 2025, what XRP actually did, and what published models expect now. XRP ranked fifth by market capitalization on CoinGecko in early October 2026.
Ripple (XRP) Price History
Ripple’s (XRP) technology has been built from the start to address cross-border payments, facilitating fast, cost-effective, and highly convenient payments for many users worldwide.
Ripple (XRP) set its first all-time high in January 2018. In December 2020, the US SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) sued Ripple, and XRP fell about 67% that month (CoinMarketCap). The price of XRP dropped to its low, leading to some exchanges delisting its token from their platform, but its community kept building as they had strong conviction of XRP rising again.
2024 was a key year for Ripple (XRP), as the price rallied from about $0.51 at the start of November to a high of about $2.86 on December 3 (CoinMarketCap), creating a lot of buzz following Ripple (XRP) ‘s willingness to settle its case and institutions’ looking to adopt RLUSD as a mode of cross-border payment.
Early in 2025, many Ripple (XRP) price predictions called for $10 to $100 before the end of the year. XRP’s 2025 high was about $3.65 in July. It ended the year near $1.84, down about 12% for 2025, and in 2026 it has traded between about $0.99 (August 14) and $2.41 (January 6), according to CoinMarketCap.
The SEC case ended in 2025. On August 7, the SEC and Ripple asked the appeals court to dismiss both appeals, and the Second Circuit closed the case on August 22 (court docket). That left the August 2024 judgment in place: a civil penalty of about $125 million and an injunction against future registration violations. Then US spot XRP ETFs arrived. Canary Capital’s XRPC began trading on Nasdaq on November 13 (Canary), and the Bitwise XRP ETF followed on NYSE Arca, with a November 19 inception date (Bitwise).

The breakout came, and XRP reached about $3.39 on January 16, 2025, but it never got near $5. Its 2025 high was about $3.65, in July (CoinMarketCap).

Ripple’s Price Prediction For 2026 And Beyond
The $5 call for 2025 assumed friendlier US rules and a market cap of around $360B. The rules did change, but XRP’s market cap peaked near $210B in July 2025 (CoinMarketCap). With about 63.1 billion XRP in circulation in October 2026, $5 would take a market cap of about $315B.
Some analysts called for $20 to $50 in 2025. Published models are far lower. CoinCodex’s model, updated October 7, 2026, expects XRP to end 2026 near $1.39 and to trade between about $4.04 and $6.12 in 2030 (CoinCodex). Forecasts like these change often, and none of this is financial advice.
Is $10 Possible For XRP?
The 2025 calls for $100, and for $5 to $10 by the end of 2025, were far off: XRP ended 2025 near $1.84. At about 63.1 billion XRP in circulation, $10 would mean a market cap of about $631B, around seven times XRP’s value in early October 2026 and more than a third of Bitcoin’s (CoinGecko). None of the forecasts cited above reaches $10 by 2030.
