XRP is trading around $1.36 after another volatile week, with buyers defending the $1.30 area while macro and regulatory risks keep the token below stronger resistance.
Two events are shaping the immediate setup. The Senate is expected to hold a procedural vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15, followed by the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) decision on September 16. Markets have also increased expectations for another interest-rate hike, keeping pressure on XRP and other risk assets.
Meanwhile, XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF) assets remain substantial, but fresh demand has slowed. US XRP ETFs held about $1.45 billion in net assets on September 11 with roughly $1.70 billion in cumulative net inflows, while no net inflow was recorded during the latest session.
XRP Holds $1.30 Support but Struggles Below $1.40
XRP remains inside a narrow short-term range after failing to sustain its late-August recovery.

The token is trading near $1.36, with $1.30 acting as the main support level and $1.40 as immediate resistance. A confirmed close above $1.40 could improve momentum and reopen the path toward $1.50. Clearing $1.50 would then bring the $1.60 area into play.
Momentum has started to improve on the four-hour chart. The moving average convergence divergence (MACD) line has crossed above its signal line, although both remain below zero, while the relative strength index (RSI) has recovered toward neutral territory near 46.81.
| Level | Role |
| ~$1.20 | Deeper downside support |
| ~$1.30 | Main short-term support |
| ~$1.36 | Current price area |
| ~$1.40 | Immediate resistance |
| ~$1.50 | Major breakout level |
| ~$1.60 | Higher bullish target |
Table 1. XRP Key Support and Resistance Levels
Holding $1.30 keeps the current recovery attempt alive. A sustained break below that level would weaken the structure and increase the risk of a move toward $1.20.
Fed Rate Fears Continue to Pressure XRP
Earlier in the week, XRP fell more than 4% as higher inflation concerns and rising bond yields reduced demand for risk assets. The selloff came as expectations for tighter Federal Reserve policy increased.
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meets on September 15 and 16. With a rate hike increasingly priced into markets, the key issue may be how the Fed describes the path for interest rates after September.
A rate increase with hawkish guidance could push short-term Treasury yields and the US dollar higher, adding pressure on XRP.
A more balanced message could reduce some of that pressure and give buyers another opportunity to challenge $1.40.
| FOMC Scenario | Possible Market Reaction | Possible XRP Impact |
| Rate hike with balanced guidance | Yields stabilize | XRP could retest $1.40-$1.50 |
| Rate hike with hawkish guidance | Yields and USD rise | XRP could retest $1.30 |
| Surprise hold | Rate expectations fall | XRP could challenge $1.50 |
Table 2. How the September FOMC Decision Could Affect XRP
Because tighter policy is already heavily anticipated, the Fed’s forward guidance may matter more than the rate decision alone.
CLARITY Act Vote Arrives One Day Before the Fed
XRP also faces a major regulatory catalyst on September 15, with the Senate expected to vote on whether to move forward with debate on the CLARITY Act. The procedural motion requires 60 votes and would not represent final passage of the legislation.
An updated version of the legislation includes provisions covering digital commodity markets, decentralized finance, and crypto services offered by financial institutions. Progress could improve regulatory sentiment around XRP, while another delay would extend uncertainty.
For the price, a positive Senate outcome combined with less hawkish Fed guidance would set up a stronger move toward $1.40 and $1.50. A failed procedural vote alongside a hawkish Fed would increase the risk of losing $1.30.
XRP ETF Demand Has Slowed
Institutional demand remains positive over the longer period, but daily ETF flows have cooled.
US XRP ETFs recorded $5.14 million in net inflows on September 10, taking cumulative net inflows to about $1.70 billion. The five listed funds held approximately $1.45 billion in combined net assets.

By September 11, however, daily net flows had fallen to zero while assets remained around $1.45 billion. Trading volume across the funds was roughly $36 million.
| XRP ETF Metric | Latest Reported Level |
| Cumulative net inflows | ~$1.70B |
| Combined net assets | ~$1.45B |
| Sept. 10 net inflow | $5.14M |
| Sept. 11 net inflow | $0 |
| Sept. 11 trading volume | ~$36M |
Table 3. US XRP ETF Activity
The figures show that institutional exposure remains significant, but fresh ETF demand is not currently strong enough to push XRP through resistance on its own.
New XRP ETF Products Shift to October
Two additional XRP investment products have also been pushed into October.
Financial firm Roundhill Investments moved the effective date of its XRP Covered Call ETF to October 11, and a separate Teucrium 2x Short Daily XRP ETF is now also scheduled around the same date.
The covered-call product would combine XRP-linked exposure with an options strategy designed to generate income, while the leveraged inverse product would provide exposure designed to benefit from daily XRP declines.
These products do not represent the same type of demand as spot XRP ETFs, but their filings show that traditional financial firms are building more varied trading strategies around XRP.
The delays also mean they are unlikely to provide a major price catalyst during the immediate September setup.
| Scenario | Price Trigger | Possible Outcome |
| Bullish Case | XRP holds $1.30 and closes above $1.40 | $1.50 comes into focus, followed by $1.60 |
| Base Case | XRP stays between $1.30 and $1.40 | Consolidation continues through the CLARITY Act vote and FOMC |
| Bearish Case | XRP loses $1.30 | Selling pressure increases toward $1.20 |
Table 4. XRP Price Scenarios for September 2026
The current structure favors consolidation until XRP decisively moves outside the $1.30 to $1.40 range.
Bottom Line
XRP remains near $1.36, with $1.30 as the key short-term support and $1.40 as the first resistance buyers need to reclaim.
ETF assets remain substantial, but daily inflows have slowed, while new XRP-linked products have been pushed into October. That leaves the September 15 CLARITY Act vote and September 16 FOMC decision as the more immediate catalysts.
The next few days could therefore determine whether XRP finally breaks out of its narrow September range or remains under pressure from higher-rate expectations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Need a refresher? Here are some common questions about XRP’s current price setup.
Why Is XRP Struggling to Rise?
XRP is facing a combination of higher interest-rate expectations, elevated Treasury yields, and regulatory uncertainty ahead of the CLARITY Act vote. The token has also struggled to attract enough buying pressure to secure a close above $1.40.
What Is the Main Support Level for XRP?
The main short-term support is around $1.30. A break below that area could expose the $1.20 level, while holding it keeps the current consolidation structure intact.
What Price Does XRP Need to Break?
XRP first needs to close above $1.40. A successful breakout could open a move toward $1.50, with $1.60 becoming the next larger upside level if momentum strengthens.
How Could the FOMC Decision Affect XRP?
The Federal Open Market Committee affects XRP through interest rates, Treasury yields, and the US dollar. Hawkish guidance could pressure the token, while a less aggressive policy outlook could improve conditions for a recovery.
Why Were the New XRP ETFs Delayed Until October?
The Roundhill XRP Covered Call ETF and Teucrium 2x Short Daily XRP ETF remain in the regulatory process, with their effective dates moved to October 11. The delays do not necessarily mean the products were rejected.
