Phantom Ends Sui Access, Sept. 24 Deadline to Migrate

Phantom will end support for the Sui blockchain on September 24, 2026, cutting off wallet access to a network it added just 20 months earlier. Users will lose the ability to view, send, swap, or interact with SUI and other Sui-based assets inside the app, though funds remain onchain and fully controlled by the same recovery phrase, according to Phantom’s official announcement. The wallet is also dropping Monad support on August 26, and the near-identical timing points to a broader trim of Phantom’s supported chains rather than a reaction to Sui specifically.

Sui Support Ends September 24

Once the transition takes effect, Phantom will stop displaying Sui balances and remove the network from its supported list entirely. Every connection between Phantom and a Sui application, including Suilend, Bluefin, Navi, and Aftermath, will stop working, and anyone who moves to a new wallet will need to reconnect each app from scratch.

Phantom has not offered a technical or commercial reason for the change and says the decision is not tied to any security incident or network failure on Sui’s end.

Phantom added native Sui access on January 29, 2025, making it the fourth Layer 1 network on the wallet alongside Solana, Bitcoin, and Ethereum, plus Coinbase’s Base Layer 2. The Sui Foundation marked the launch by noting Phantom’s user base topped 15 million monthly actives at the time, and Phantom CEO Brandon Millman said Sui’s focus on scalability fit the wallet’s push to make crypto more accessible.

Less than 20 months later, Phantom and Sui are ending that integration, with both sides describing the split as mutual and leaving the door open to future collaboration.

What Sui Holders Should Do Now

Phantom addressed the transition directly in a post on X, saying “Your funds remain safe and fully under your control.” The company reiterated that before September 24, holders can move their wallet to another app that supports Sui, or swap their SUI into a supported asset on Phantom with the fee waived.

Phantom is offering holders two ways to keep control of their funds. The first is converting native SUI into wrapped SUI on Solana. Phantom will not charge its own fee for that swap until the deadline, though standard network and exchange fees still apply, and the wrapped token can then move into SOL, ETH, or USDC without an added Phantom fee either.

The second path is to export the Phantom recovery phrase from Settings and import it into a wallet that still supports Sui, such as Slush, the option the Sui Foundation itself recommends. Either route keeps the same wallet address and balance intact, since the underlying tokens live on the Sui blockchain rather than inside Phantom’s app.

There is no hard deadline on this second option. Recovery phrases work whenever a holder chooses to use them, so migrating after September 24 remains possible, just without Phantom’s interface to check balances in the meantime. Scam Risk and the Bigger Pattern

Wallet transitions like this one draw phishing activity, and Phantom has been explicit that it will never contact a user first, request a recovery phrase, or offer to handle a migration on someone’s behalf, a warning that carries extra weight since attackers previously used fake Phantom update prompts to steal recovery phrases directly from users. Sui is also not an isolated case for Phantom.

Phantom is also ending Monad support on August 26, walking users through nearly identical migration steps to the Sui wind-down, right down to the recovery-phrase export and the recommendation to move to a compatible wallet. The overlap in both timing and process suggests Phantom is working through a broader list of lower-activity chains rather than treating Sui as a special case.

The Aug. 26 Test Case Comes First

Phantom’s Monad deadline lands more than three weeks before Sui’s, giving holders in both networks an early look at how the same migration process performs in practice. Whether that transition goes smoothly on August 26 will be the clearest signal yet for how much friction Sui holders should expect when their own deadline arrives on September 24.

What this means for you: If you hold SUI in Phantom, move your assets to a supported network or export your recovery phrase into another Sui-compatible wallet before September 24, and treat any message offering migration help as a scam unless it comes directly from Phantom’s official channels.
