RLUSD Lending Opens to XRP Holders on Ethereum

XRP holders can now access RLUSD lending on Ethereum without selling their tokens, after Flare’s FXRP was approved as collateral in Sentora’s RLUSD vault on the Morpho protocol. The integration, announced Monday, August 3, 2026, and reported by Yahoo Finance the next day, lets users convert XRP into FXRP, bridge the token to Ethereum, and borrow Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin against that collateral.

Flare co-founder and CEO Hugo Philion said the approval gives XRP a stronger form of recognition than another bridge listing, since an institutional risk team now underwrites it directly on Ethereum mainnet.

How XRP Becomes Collateral for RLUSD

The process starts on Flare, where XRP holders mint FXRP, a token representing their XRP. From there, users bridge FXRP to Ethereum and deposit it as collateral inside Sentora’s RLUSD Main vault, which runs on the Morpho Blue lending protocol, according to Yahoo Finance. Morpho Blue keeps each collateral type in its own isolated market, a structure meant to stop trouble with one asset from spreading to others in the vault.

Before approving FXRP, Sentora reviewed the asset’s market behavior, oracle design, liquidity, and liquidation mechanics. The setup mirrors Wrapped Bitcoin, which lets Bitcoin holders use Ethereum DeFi without selling BTC. Flare confirmed the approval in a post on its official X account. “XRP is one of the largest assets in crypto and one of the least used in DeFi,” Philion said in a statement. “That gap came down to infrastructure.”

A New Liquidity Option for XRP Holders

For XRP holders, the launch adds a way to unlock cash without exiting a position, part of a broader push across the altcoin market to make idle tokens productive. Borrowers keep exposure to XRP’s price while gaining access to RLUSD, a stablecoin increasingly used for institutional settlement, a trend our crypto news has tracked recently.

Whether Borrowing Demand Reverses RLUSD’s Usage Slide

RLUSD’s own usage pattern makes this launch worth watching. The stablecoin’s market value sat near $1.5 billion as of July 24, 2026, split between the XRP Ledger and Ethereum, but CoinDesk reported that its market cap and monthly transfer volume had fallen even as holder counts and active addresses climbed, a sign RLUSD was being held more than used.

Whether XRP-backed borrowing shifts that pattern, by giving holders a reason to draw down RLUSD instead of letting it sit idle, is the detail worth tracking as the new lending market takes in its first deposits.

What This Means for You

For everyday XRP holders, this launch means there is now a vetted way to borrow against XRP on Ethereum without selling it, something not available at this scale before Sentora’s review. Borrowing still carries liquidation risk if XRP’s price drops sharply against the loan, so this is a lending decision, not a guaranteed return.
